Project B

After students left from project A, the staff clamored to move locations, evaluate, and get ready for the next one in 2 days. We left the FEMA camp and moved into some dorms at UNO.

The staff there were great. They allowed us to stay in the dorms in exchange for some work we were doing on their campus, cleaning and planting trees. We did get to have some relaxing fun over the weekend to recover and get recharged for project B. Friday night the staff went on a dinner cruise along the Mississippi River on the Natchez. It was beautiful watching the sun set over the city. Saturday was our first and only day off on project. Janell and I went to take advantage of the Aveda Institute to get cheap haircuts before we had to run all over town on errands to get ready for students to arrive the next day.

We had 22 students show up on Sunday for project B. Most of these students were women, which made for some interesting dynamics. They were a very fun group and ready to get to work. Since we were pretty much doing the same thing we did the week before, I was a lot more relaxed this time around...though very tired.

Small Group & Tranell

Again, I had a small group of 3 girls: Carly, Ashley, and Beth. And Tranell lived on as we joined with Janell's small group to create our work group. We shared some good time talking about the Holy Spirit, looking at God's word, and just working as a team.

This is a house my group worked on that belonged to a staff member at Tulane University that heard what we were doing.

Stats from B

  • 7 houses gutted
