The beginning of the fall semester is one of the most strategic and busy times for our ministry. This is the time when students are getting plugged in to the university community, making new friendships, and figuring out where they belong. It is the time when students, especially freshmen, are most vulnerable and also when they are the most open. Much of our outreach at the beginning is aimed at freshmen because we want the first thing that influences them here at USC to be Christ. Another big part of the ministry at this time is training up our older students to lead the movement and be influencers and examples to these younger students. So, with that in mind, here are a few upcoming events that you can join us in prayer:
All of these things are just to help us get things kicked off. We'll be doing plenty more in the days and weeks to follow to get bible studies set up, plan events, start discipleship, etc. Keep in mind as you pray that all of these events are about making Christ known on this campus. Our mission is to turn lost students into Christ-centered laborers. And we have a vision that every student will know someone who truly follows Christ. So pray that we will always keep that vision before us whatever we are doing, whether inviting Christian students to be a part of our mission or talking to students about spiritual things for the first time.
- this week, our staff team will be in Pasadena planning for the upcoming semester--making final decisions about leadership and structure, vision, event planning, etc
- Aug 19-20 is our LEAD team overnighter--this is a time to connect with and train this year's student leaders in their various roles
- Aug 21-22 we will be doing lots of spiritual interest surveys with freshmen during their move-in days
- Aug 23 we will have a "welcome back" event at the beach for all of our returning students
- Aug 24 we will be a part of a campus Christian organization welcome event, followed by our own "welcome in" social for interested freshmen
- Aug 25 is the first day of classes
- Aug 27 is the involvement fair--we will set up an informational table (along with all the other student groups) to let students know who we are and what we're about
- Aug 27 is also the night of our first 727 (our weekly cru meeting), followed by our welcoming ice cream social
