Our team and a few students involved in Destino at USC and UCLA (yes, we're bridging that rivalry gap ;)) took a little "hike" around downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. It was fun to show them (especially those new to the area) some of the wonderful sights that are often missed. We started at Union Station (in the picture), then spent some time on Olvera Street, which is the birthplace of L.A. and a Latino cultural center. Then we walked over to Chinatown, then went to the beautiful Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral, then...I can't remember the order anymore. We saw Little Tokyo, the financial district, the Music Center & Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Bradbury Building, Grand Central Market, Pershing Square, the L.A. Public Library, the Biltmore Hotel, and more. We even took a ride on the recently reopened Angels Flight (the shortest railway in the world) and the rarely used L.A. subway. Fun (and tiring) day!
